Oh, and how do you know I deserve the praise from the Good Times? Have you been on one of my tours? They're dead boring.

Thanks, Paul. You saw the print edition? I have never seen such an ENORMOUS picture of anyone I actually know. And it was of me! Good thing I wore cute socks.

And, if I was one of the "good" ones, it's probably because I have science teacher parents and, by the time I was your "teacher," had a far less snobbish attitude about LIT-RITURE than some.

I don't know what Baudrillard has on Silicon Valley. I can look around....

Oh, and you were one of the "good" ones, too. Also, straw men are excellent, because they BURN IN EFFIGY so well.

Yeah, but you were one of the handful of "good" ones, Blaize. And I'm not denying that I developed a number of useful analytical tools with which to examine culture and media from all the lit crit "crap"--but hey, can't deny the rhetorical need for having a straw man, right?

That Baudrillard essay is spot-on. Does he have more writings about the Silicon Valley?

BTW, congrats on the props in this week's Good Times. It's much deserved!

Yeah. Well. Since, in my own "special" way, I taught you some of that lit. crit. crap, I hang my head in a kind of shame. Yet, still, Baudrillard's description of UCSC (http://bnoble.googlepages.com/baudrillard.html) strikes me as something worthwhile.
