That's because patients are now considered dying of secondary causes as a result of chemotherapy. For example, if a patient gets pneumonia because his immune system is so weakened from chemo, they don't consider the chemo to have killed him but the pneumonia.

When there is cancer in the family all you want to do is being able to get your loved one with a chance to live. It is so sad and frustrating that we are limited by what and who the insurance pays. THE ONLY BENEFIT IS FOR THE PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES. IT SHOULD BE THE PATIENT'S CHOICE FOR WHATEVER TREATMENT TO DO, SPECIALLY IF THERE ARE NO SIDE EFFECTS INVOLVED.

I feel patients should have chances to try any treatments effective to their cancer since the worst result is death. If thermal therapy, unlike chemotherapy, doesn’t have any side effects as described in the book, German Cancer Breakthrough, why not give it a try? Americans are so innocent if the ban of this alternative treatment is due to the conflicts of interest among those biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies. I wonder if any of those board members has cancer, which way they would choose to cure their cancer.

Speaking of cheap... It is interesting that at the end of the report on the CDC website you sited it says:

"The study was conducted by scientists at the ACS, CDC, NCI, which is part of the National Institutes of Health, and the NAACCR."

Sorry but that is like Fox News reporting that war has decreased.

If you find out about the things they have done you’ll see why. For example if you read about the CDC covering up evidence of vaccines being linked to autism in children, it is infuriating and very scary. When the effects of thimerosal (a mercury based preservative in vaccines) proved to cause autism in children, the CDC and other major health organizations worked hard at covering their asses with some help from Bill Frist. The CDC then paid the Institute of Medicine to conduct another study that concealed/cancelled out the connection to thimerosal and autism. Even though plenty of studies dating back to the 1930’s already proved the connection. The head of the chemistry dept from the University of Kentucky said you couldn’t even conduct a study that shows thimerosal is safe yet the study claimed that there was no connection and that there should be no more investigations. The whole article is really terrifying when you think of how we are supposed to trust our medical establishments. In reality they are responsible for a lot of death.

Read Robert Kennedy Jr's Deadly Immunity here: http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feature/2005/06/16/thimerosal/index.html

These organizations that conducted this report you sited are the very organizations that many doctors (who aren’t on the payroll) have stepped forward to criticize as well as the pharmaceutical companies who back them. So to some people that report may be solid gold, but to others, it is up for a lot of questioning. Another important factor to consider is that organizations like ACS and others under the NAACCR do not account for the deaths due to the EFFECTS of chemotherapy. They classify many of these deaths under “malnutrition” which is one of the side effects of chemo. A lot of the deaths due to side effects of chemotherapy are not classified under cancer; they are classified under whatever side effect the person was unfortunate enough to die from.

If you believe that these organizations put out the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth then that’s your call but I for one don’t take information from lobbying-pharma-companies at face value.

If you or anyone else is interested, a great book that goes in depth about the major medical orgs in the US is: The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Thomas M. Campbell II.

I hate to be the bearer of good news but to suggest that "cancer is still spreading like wildfire" would be ignoring the facts. In fact, as the CDC reported last November, "for the first time since the report was first issued in 1998, both incidence and death rates for all cancers combined are decreasing for both men and women" And the numbers have been decreasing every year for the last 10 years since the report started. There's a lot more info in the press release and even more in the actual report- http://www.cdc.gov/media/pressrel/2008/r081202.ht...
I appreciate the sentiment of the article, but don't falsely set it up so it's easy to knock down, that's cheap.
